ECO BOYS AND GIRLS JOIN YOUTH AROUND THE WORLD AT COY8 AND COP18 FOR THE UNITED NATIONS FRAMEWORK CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE UNFCCC



Eco Boys and Girls youth correspondent Sarah Dayringer led a workshopEco Boys and Girls “Take Action” for the environment and promoted the Millennium Development Goals” at COY8 on November 25, 2012 and participated and joined in with the Earth Child Institute, where EBAG exhibited their Public Service Announcements as well as discussed their role and efforts toward environmental education at COP18.

Earth Child Institute's mission is to engage with and empower children and young people today who comprise close to half the global population toward a sustainable tomorrow. ECI believes that children and young people who are empowered with the knowledge of the interconnectedness of all living things as well as their own ability to think and act in harmony, will grow up leading lives that benefit themselves and the environment.

The Conference of Youth, COY8, November 23 to 25, 2012 brought international youth together to learn about the UNFCCC, build networks and work on climate justice issues worldwide. COY8 is united in vision for a safe and sustainable world and builds the youth climate movement from the grassroots up.

The United Nations Framework Convention Climate Change, UNFCCC, November 26 to December 7 is an international environmental treaty whose objective is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.

On International Day of Peace, September 21, 2012, MARIA SNYDER’S PEACEARTH® PROJECTS MINI MEDITATION FILMS was featured at THE GLOBAL PEACE FILM FESTIVAL as well as part of it’s first global online festival.

PEACEARTH® PROJECTS MINI MEDITATION FILMS is an introduction to a series of 3 films, 3 minutes each that engage the viewer through images, words and references of Peace. PEACEARTH® highlights Peace through the arts, messaging and social media to promote and raise public awareness about the need for and importance of Peace on Earth. Maria Snyder visually engages all people around the globe irrespective of their age, race or religion to partake with her in a journey to change this world by choosing peace. At an American Public Health Association’s conference Maria Snyder's Art was described “as an emerging body of work that spans graphic, advertising, and fine arts in techniques and media, while illuminating the challenges of bringing images and ideas about Peace into the modern mainstream, after decades of marginalization”.


GLOBAL PEACE FILM FESTIVAL was established to utilize the power of the motion picture to further the goal of peace on earth. GPFF presents films from around the world and global discussions that highlight the power of this extraordinary medium as it relates to new peace issues.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE 2012 provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date, September 21. It was established by a United Nations resolution in 1981.

On June 10 Eco Boys and Girls held a plenary session at Youth Blast: The Official United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development for Children and Youth.

Eco Boys and Girls Plenary Session discussed the vital importance of environmental education for children and showcasing their series of  "TAKE ACTION" Public Service Announcements and associated with many of the top Global Youth Groups.


For two days the UNCSD Major Group of Children and Youth will collaborate and the purpose of the Youth Blast Conference of Youth for Rio+20 is to empower children and youth.

Eco Boys and Girls encourages and inspires youth and families to be better stewards of the environment and each other. Through this work and collaboration with other major youth organizations, Eco Boys and Girls will help to ensure the Rio+20 Conferences generate lasting, transformative outcomes for our future and the future we want.  


The UNCSD Major Group for Children and Youth is the official voice for any under 30 in the sustainability negotiations at Rio+20. We are engaging with young people from across the world to share our voices at Rio+20. Through networking and collaborating, the MGCY has strong teams that contribute to the policy negotiations.

ECO BOYS AND GIRLS joins the EPAand Administrator, Lisa P. Jackson with Senior Officials from the White House and other Federal Agencies for the first White House Summit onEnvironmental Education on April 16, 2012.





The White House Summit on Environmental Education brought together stakeholders both old and new to discuss an emerging vision for environmental education in the 21st century. Panelists and participants addressed the challenges of environmental education in an increasingly technology-driven world and the role of environmental education in adapting to these changes. Federal government panelists discussed the role of the federal government in environmental education.

ECO BOYS AND GIRLS CELEBRATE HUMAN RIGHTS DAY WITH FRIENDS OF THE UNITED NATIONS

ECO BOYS AND GIRLS are welcomed into the United Nations Family by FRIENDS OF THE UNITED NATIONS and celebrate HUMAN RIGHTS DAY on December 10th.


The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 10 December 1948, was the result of the experience of the Second World War. With the end of that war, and the creation of the United Nations, the international community vowed never again to allow atrocities like those of that conflict happen again. World leaders decided to complement the UN Charter with a road map to guarantee the rights of every individual everywhere.




Friends of the United Nations works with educational institutions, corporations, the media, governments and non-governmental organizations to inform and educate people about United Nations efforts on behalf of peace, human rights and human health, children, the environment and sustainable development.
